Sex Scandal: U.S accuses Nigerian lawmakers of attempted rape, soliciting prostitutes

Nigeria, 2016

The United States government has raised serious allegations of sexual misconduct and attempted rape against Nigerian lawmakers.

The U.S. ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle, made the allegation in a letter sent to the Speaker of House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, on June 9.

The accused members are Samuel Ikon (PDP, Akwa Ibom), Mohammed Gololo (APC, Bauchi) and Mark Gbillah (APC, Benue).

The petition says they attempted to commit rape, and solicited sex from prostitutes during their recent trip to Cleveland, United States, for the International Visitor Leadership Program.

In the petition, obtained by New Telegraph, Mr. Gololo was reported by a hotel house keeper to have grabbed her and sought sex.

Messrs Ikon and Gbillah, allegedly, sought the assistance of hotel park attendants to help them get prostitutes.

Mr. Dogara’s spokesperson, Turaki Hassan, confirmed the Speaker received the petition to PREMIUM TIMES.

The petition read, “It is with regret that I must bring to your attention the following situation. Ten members of the Nigerian National Assembly recently travelled to Cleveland, Ohio as participants in the International Visitor Leadership Programme on good governance. We received troubling allegations regarding the behaviour of three members of the delegation to the U.S. Government’s flagship professional exchange programme.

“The U.S. Department of State and the Cleveland Council on World Affairs received reports from employees of the Cleveland hotel where the representatives stayed, alleging the representatives engaged in the following behaviour: “Mohammed Garba Gololo allegedly grabbed a housekeeper in his hotel room and solicited her for sex.

“While the housekeeper reported this to her management, this incident could have involved local law enforcement and resulted in legal consequences for Representative Gololo. Mark Terseer Gbillah and Samuel Ikon allegedly requested hotel parking attendants assist them to solicit prostitutes.

“The U.S. Mission took pains to confirm these allegations and the identities of the individuals with the employees of the hotel in Cleveland.

“The conduct described above left a very negative impression of Nigeria, casting a shadow on Nigeria’s National Assembly, the International Visitor Leadership Program, and to the American hosts’ impression of Nigeria as a whole. Such conduct could affect some participants’ ability to travel to the United States in the future.

“While the majority of Nigerian visitors to the United States do behave appropriately, even a few Nigerians demonstrating poor judgement leads to a poor impression of the Nigerian people generally, though it is far from accurate. Such incidents jeopardise the ability of future programming and make host institutions and organisations less likely to welcome similar visits in the future.”

“I request, in the strongest possible terms, you share this message with members of the National Assembly so they understand the seriousness of these issues, and the potential consequences of their actions, not only for themselves as individuals, but also for the future of such programmes designed to benefit Nigeria,” Mr. Entwistle wrote.

The accused lawmakers denied the allegations.

“It’s an affront on the National Assembly” – Gbillah

Mr. Gbillah, who was accused of soliciting prostitutes alongside Mr. Ikon, said the allegation was a calculated attempt at rubbishing the National Assembly and vowed to demand compensation from the U.S. for defamation of character.

He explained that that they did not speak to park attendants, basing his argument on the ground that they did not go with cars, and asking, “So how could we have spoken with attendant.”

“So, at Cleveland Renaissance where we were, opposite the Quicken Loan Arena, the Cleveland Cavalier Basketball team played a match and many people came to lodge at the same hotel, and they claimed that we spoke with car park attendants. We didn’t go with cars, so how could we have spoken with attendants?”

“I saw the ambassador (Entwistle) and went to greet him and he told me how a few of us tarnished the image of the House. I advised him to make it formal so that we can know who was involved and what actually happened.

“It was after this encounter that they called us to their premises and said they were identified by their accusers in a group picture. This is curious. No video footage. They didn’t accost us while we were in US. We suspect this is a calculated attempt to rubbish the National Assembly. Is this how they would have investigated their congressmen? Do they know that there were other black people who came to watch the match? How could they have identified us in a picture without our knowledge?”

He said the affected lawmakers had challenged the U.S. government, demanding footage of their stay in the hotel and that they should be provided access to their accusers for identification.

Mr. Gololo, in a letter to the American envoy on June 13, obtained by PREMIUM TIMES, said “these are totally false, unfounded and baseless allegations against me. I categorically deny that any such incident happened. I never grabbed any housekeeper or solicited sex”.

“I also take this matter very seriously not only because I am an honourable member representing a hallowed institution but because I am husband and father. How will my family and in-laws react to this wild and grave allegation.”

He demanded “video or any such evidence of my alleged misbehaviour.”

Nkole Ndukwe, another lawmaker who was on the trip, expressed shock at the allegation and asked for substantiation from the U.S.

The United States Embassy in Nigeria declined comment on this story.

What You Must Know Before Buying or Using Tongkat Ali Extract… (or else it won’t work.)

Tongkat Ali works and it works amazingly well. It is the closest nature has ever come to creating the perfect aphrodisiac. But many people who buy Tongkat Ali supplement off the Net will never come close to experiencing the wondrous sexual enhancement effect (among other things) of Tongkat Ali.

Before I go into the reasons why, there is a persistent myth about Tongkat Ali I want to dispel. And its going to disappoint you. That is… Tongkat Ali Do NOT work immediately, in 30 minutes, like what a lot online sellers are claiming. Far from it. The plain fact is… no nutritional supplement works right away.

Now with this out of the way, let’s dive into where to buy and how to use Tongkat Ali for maximum effect.

Here are the guidelines for buying Tongkat Ali supplements:

1. Buy Tongkat Ali root extract and not just Tongkat Ali.

2. Buy Tongkat Ali root extract that specifies the extract strength. Too low, it doesn’t work.

3. Buy a product that contains Tongkat Ali extract only.

4. And finally if possible, buy Indonesian and not Malaysia Tongkat Ali.

The active ingredient within Tongkat Ali (latin name: Eurycoma Longifolia Jack) roots is present in miniscule amounts. Therefore, products with label that says it contains ‘Tongkat Ali’ just isn’t going to do the job. It must specifically state it contains Tongkat Ali extract.

But that’s not enough. You must also take note of the extract strength. An extract strength of 1:50 means 50 gram of Tongkat Ali root is used to produced 1 gram of extract. An extract strength of 1:100 means 100 gram of root is use to produce 1 gram of extract. Some brands of Tongkat Ali extract such as SD-200 (the most established brand in the world) is even more concentrated with 200 gram of roots being used to produced 1 gram of extract. In other words, their extract strength is 1:200.

Thus among the various Tongkat Ali extracts cited above, 1:200 is the most concentrated and potent. Watch out if a product simply say ‘Tongkat Ali extract’ without specifying the extract strength. The concentration could be 1:5 or just 1:2. Technically it is still an extract. But therapeutically, it feels like nothing because the concentration just isn’t high enough to have any impact on your body.

You also do not want to buy a supplement containing other ingredients. Its a waste of money. Just buy the pure extract.

And finally if possible, buy Indonesia Tongkat Ali supplement. Why? First of all, in Malaysia, Tongkat Ali has been declared as a protected plant since 2001 and any wild harvesting from its forest is illegal. And there is also no Tongkat Ali plantation in Malaysia. So any manufacturer who claims their Tongkat Ali is from Malaysia is probably stretching the truth or perhaps breaking the law. Secondly, Malaysia’s Tongkat Ali has been found to be high in lead content, ranging from 10.64 to 20.72 ppm (parts per million). Compared to Indonesia Tongkat Ali, the lead content is just 0.08 ppm. Also, Indonesia is the only country in the world where Tongkat Ali shrubs can still be found in the wild.

Women Self-Immolation and Children Sex Abuse

Afghanistan, 2012

A recent report by the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) says the number of women self-immolation in Northern Afghanistan has increased this year. With the improving governance reach out, presence of civil society and grass-rooted rights activism, the ground effects are in contrary.

Violence against women continues to be a common affair throughout the country. The fact that international intervention of the past decade has helped a lot in improving the situation, but the plight of Afghan women still persists with an increasing fear and serious concern that all the achievements would be in vain if the Government in Kabul fail to pay attention to a social phenomenon that puts the entire claim of so-called national pride and honor to shame.

According to AIHRC, over 20 girls and women have burnt themselves since March this year. At least 12 cases of child rape have been reported. Some media activists have started a campaign to raise awareness on child sexual abuse. The fact is that the Government has not only failed to improve the situation, but it seems these grave issues are not a priority at all. The common violence against women and child rape shows lowest of social standard and reality, while we are not tired of arrogant chest-thumping in national emotional hyperbole.

According to Government statistic, more than 50 percent of girls are married before their legal age. It also says that 99 percent of family violence cases go unreported. The Government needs to put these issues on high national priority. Though we have other grave challenges of security threats, governance improvement and on a path of self-reliability, violence against women and child sex abuse should be a barometer of the ideality of our so-called religious and traditional values vis-à-vis social realities.

The Government is needed to implement laws about domestic violence and take effective steps to not only end violence against women but also create awareness among masses in this regard with the help of religious scholars, clerics and media. People from all walks of life are needed to play their due responsibility to end our contradiction with ideological values and social reality.

Sex without term limits

China, 2016

Sex is central to human existence. It is also a very controversial and sensitive topic.

In Western countries, questions of sexual orientation have been addressed more and more openly since Sigmund Freud began publishing the results of his psychoanalytical investigations in the late 19th century. As a result, sexual preferences, such as homosexuality, which were previously seen as aberrations or perversions have come to be more accepted, even celebrated, to the extent that same-sex marriages are now legal in some nations.

On the other hand, in many developing countries such as China, sexual attraction has traditionally been seen as something that takes place between a man and a woman. Under the influence of the West, recent years have shown a gradual change in attitudes. It now seems that homosexuality and transsexuality, in particular, may eventually come to be tolerated by Chinese society, if not exactly welcomed.

This means that the range of options open to the sexual explorer is now expanding. Surprisingly, however, some of these alternatives are actually less radical than the ones mentioned above and may appeal to people who are less than a hundred percent clear about their sexuality.

Did you know, for instance, that in addition to choosing between heterosexuality, homosexuality, and bisexuality, you can also select as your preference the category of "questioning"? It simply means that you have not yet made up your mind and do not want to be fixed with a label. Being questioning means that you are free to allow yourself to be sexually confused without being depressed or anxious about it.

Another alternative is to be "graysexual." A graysexual is somebody who does not have a very strong sex drive and experiences sexual attraction only occasionally. Even then, the person may not act upon it. A graysexual is therefore somebody who is not really that interested in sex but doesn't feel bad about it.

Still another option is "aromantic." An aromantic is a person who just doesn't experience romantic attraction at all. In this, they are similar to asexuals ("aces" for short), who aren't interested in having sex.

In other words, it's now acceptable to simply decide that you are not going to have sexual relations with anybody. The fictional character Sherlock Holmes is often taken to be a famous example of an asexual, although due to his close friendship with Dr Watson (who is married), some believe that he is actually gay.

Then there are the demisexuals. These are individuals who only feel sexual attraction when they have gotten to know another person really well. This may take months or years, but demisexuals don't worry in the meantime. They just get on with being themselves and wait patiently for the sexual bug to bite (or not).

So all in all, the range of sexual predilections is growing by the day. But so also is the range of possibilities for those who do not feel any strong urge to do anything. After all, if you don't feel up for a bit of hanky-panky, why worry? Just relax and be yourself.

ISIS executes 250 women for refusing to become sex slaves: Report

India, 2016

LONDON: The Islamic State, notorious for its brutality, has reportedly executed 250 girls in northern Iraq for refusing to become sex slaves, according to a media report.

The girls had been ordered to accept temporary marriages to the terrorists and were murdered, sometimes alongside their families, for their refusal to be sex slaves in Iraq's second largest city of Mosul.

ISIS began selecting women of Mosul and forced them into marrying its militants, calling it temporary marriage since it has taken control over Mosul, and the women who refused to submit to this practice would be executed, said Kurdish Democratic Party spokesman Said Mamuzini.

"At least 250 girls have so far been executed by IS for refusing to accept the practice of sexual jihad, and sometimes the families of the girls were also executed for rejecting to submit to IS's request," Mamuzini told London-based Kurdish news agency 'AhlulBayt'.

Another official from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) party Ghayas Surchi said that human rights were being widely violated in all IS-held territories, particularly the womens' rights as they're seen as commodities and have no choice in choosing their spouses.

Surchi said that women were not allowed to go out alone in Mosul and cannot choose their spouses.

The executions follows a spate of similar killings that took place last August in which 19 Mosul women were slaughtered for refusing to have sex with ISIS fighters, the report said.

Up to 500 Yazidi women and girls were kidnapped and sexually abused by militants in August 2014.

In October, more than 500 Yazidi women and young girls were reportedly abducted by the ISIS when they stormed the Sinjar region in northern Iraq.

ISIS took control of Mosul in June 2014 after the fall of Iraqi army in the city and since then has been slaughtering its residents for various charges to spread fear.

US President Barack Obama said on Monday that he expected Mosul to be retaken from the ISIS "eventually".

"My expectation is that by the end of the year, we will have created the conditions whereby Mosul will eventually fall," Obama had said.
