边 = edge, border (of a country)

For a county's border, the following is more commonly used:

边界 = bian(1)jie(4) = national boundary

Alternative word:

国界 = guo(2)jie(4) = national boundary

cong(2) zhe(4)li(3). = The Chinese border is very far from here.
