HUI

hui(1)

hui(2)

= to return

However, the common two-character word is:

回来 = hui(2) lai(2) = to come back

This is not to be confused with another two-character word that involves :

未来 = wei(4)lai(2) = future / lit. not yet come

The confusion only affect non-native speakers who wrongly pronounce the 'h' in 'hui'. The 'ui' in 'hui' is indeed spoken like 'wei', but the initial 'h' has to sound like the 'ch' in Scottish (and German) 'loch'.

hui(3)

hui(4)
